A good chocolate truffle can be a decadent treat, a cannabis-infused chocolate truffle even more so. For those looking to take the leap into cannabis cooking, cannabis-infused chocolate truffles are a good place to start. They’re easy, quick, and require only three ingredients. Plus, you can customize them however you want. We’ll start with the basic recipe and then give you some variations we’d recommend! Remember: the potency of the edibles will depend on how many you get from the recipe and the strength of cannabis in your cannabutter. Keep this in mind when determining the strength of each truffle.
What you’ll need
- 1/2 cup unsalted cannabutter
- 2 1/3 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder, plus more for coating
How to make classic cannabis-infused truffles
- Cream the butter in a large mixing bowl.
- Add your cocoa and powdered sugar slowly until it’s completely mixed together and chill until firm.
- Shape small balls and coat them with more cocoa powder, and chill until ready to serve.
Variations
Once you master the classic truffle, you can give some of these variations a shot.
Nutty Truffles
Instead of coating the truffles in powdered sugar, you can coat them in chopped nuts. Peanuts, walnuts, almonds or even pistachios would be great options. You could also add some nuts to the actual truffles themselves, but then you’ll lose that smooth texture.
Crispy Truffles
Adding crispy rice cereal to your truffles can give them a great crunchy and crispy texture. Make sure you don’t add too many though, or else your truffles won’t hold their shape.
Flavoured Truffles
You can buy so many flavoured extracts, why not change up your truffles? Mint, orange, almond, strawberry, or whatever flavour extract you prefer can be added to these truffles. Remember though, extract flavour is pretty strong. Always go a little light on it.
Different Toppings
You can roll your truffles in really anything you want. Crushed-up cookies, sprinkles, shredded coconut, even potato chips all make great truffle toppings. The possibilities are (almost) endless!
As a reminder, edibles can take between 30 minutes and 2 hours to kick in. Always start low and go slow when it comes to cannabis. Only share cannabis edibles with those of legal age. Store all cannabis in a safe location away from children.
